Marie Graham

One of the all-time greats in the ToCo world – always in the Top Ten rankings in these mags and one of the most photographed and published of all of the south coast models. A pretty housewife and secretary from Bournemouth (right next door to the Jurassic coast of the UK, where stupendous fossils are to be found), she liked to do a bit of modelling and loved driving – and, extraordinarily − mountaineering in her spare time.

Marie was the epitome of the ToCo amateur model girl-next-door that set those mags apart from the others filled with heavily made-up, hard-faced pros. She was featured in some Ken Howard classic duo and trio sets with Nicola Taylor and Eve Law (who both came from the same area) that were very advanced for the times in which they were published − nothing to write home about by today’s standards but spread-legged, in-your-face knicker crutch was quite explicit for the time.

Life must have been very interesting in the New Forest in those days. She wore shorter and shorter minis, which accounts for the several sets of her wearing tights not stockings. There is a series of her in woodlands somewhere tinkering with her car wearing black tights, frilly knickers and an apology for a skirt. You never see that where I get my car serviced.
