Rosanne Stuart
Ros was one of the most naturally gorgeous models ever to appear in the 25-plus years of the ToCo dynasty – more of the mum-next-door than the girl-next door. She was Scottish (from just outside Glasgow) and worked as a secretary. And she was definitely one of photographer J.B. Fullarton’s Bearsden Brigade, with all his usual countryside locations, own-home sequences, and one of his give-away props – the pram.
Picture editor Robin Brewster tells us, “she was finalist and winner in umpteen beauty competitions” − and it’s not difficult to see why; a vivacious and beautiful girl, stunning legs and melting smile. But for a model who made 49 appearances, was on the front and back covers 8 times, it seems very strange that little information is available about her, apart from the fact that she used to be a keen Girl Guide.
Ros was the very essence of Spick and Span. The raised skirt and sumptuous displays of stocking tops, suspenders (with one tiny glimpse of girdle) and those semi-see through nylon knickers of the early 1960s are mouthwatering teases at which Fullarton excelled. Interestingly, and unlike most of the other Bearsden girls, Ros never did any duo shots, always working alone. There has been some considerable speculation that she might have been Mrs Fullarton but she is never seen with a wedding ring.
