Susan was a pert and pretty ladies’ hairdresser from Glasgow. She had hazel-brown eyes, jet-black hair and a near-classic figure − and seemed to delight in showing us her stocking tops, suspenders and knickers. And why not? She had great legs.
Not one of the 43 photos is taken in a studio. So Susan was an outdoor girl, weather permitting – as the blurb says of her, she “loves swimming and tennis in the summer and ballroom dancing in the winter”. And that’s as much as we were permitted to know.
There are a couple of shots of her that will appeal to the fans of a memorable feature of certain items of 1960s ladies’ underwear – those gorgeous high-waisted semi-transparent nylon knickers that you could see the suspender belt through. Take a look at the white pair in Span 89 (January 1962) and the black pair in Spick & Span Extra 4 (October 1962).
