The End of an Era

Vintage Fetish has been sharing ToCo extracts and pictures for over 16 years, with thousands of posts available in the archive. We’ve incorporated content from the Vintage Stockings Archive and other relevant images throughout this time. There are 127 model pages, each with galleries, and thousands of eBooks available for instant download.

Posts have dwindled to once a week. All tangible products have been transferred to BrazenBooks, and over the next few months the digital products will be repackaged and made available through the eBook site.

Tocofan is operating independently and selling his own work through his new site, so it's all starting to look a bit sad. When something becomes more of a chore than a pleasure, it's probably time to go.

The site will remain live until sometime next year, probably around April, but there will be no further posts.

If anyone is interested in taking it on as a blog, then I’m happy to look at that — but no dreamers please. It still costs hundreds per year just to stay live, and if you want to sell stuff you’ll need to get all that sorted. All posts and model pages would stay.

I think if posts were more frequent and engaging, it still has the legs to carry on — the more you put in, the more you get out. So if anybody wants a hobby, it could be yours. It would be nice to see it carry on. Contact Me

I haven’t gone away though — BrazenBooks is going from strength to strength, and the eBooks site Brazen eBooks, which now features some great films and additional archive product that we could never sell here, is growing all the time. All ToCo books will be available on that site eventually, and the data and history pages have been, or are being, rewritten and transferred to BrazenBooks.

My own collecting and interest kicked all this off decades ago, and with the collaboration of others who are sadly not with us anymore, it made all this possible. ToCo books and a lot of other Pin-Up titles are now becoming interesting novelties, and young lads these days sadly don’t have the interest.

Even the books are becoming harder to sell, and collections are appearing on the market frequently as their owners die away. But it has been fun, and I thank all my regulars for their support and comments over the years.

October - Blog

There will be a slight change to the blog next month; I will not be posting regurgitated ToCo sets. I’m not saying I won’t be posting them anymore, but I have so much other stuff that I think is worth showing that may not have been seen before.

I have hundreds of prints that need sorting in preparation for sale, and it would be nice to let some of these see the light of day. Many will still be very familiar to us all, so you won't be disappointed.

BrazenBooks

I am attempting to put up at least one post per week on the Brazen site. These posts are generally eBook previews that feature a small gallery of pictures, but they are well worth a look if you are into the more exotic side of things.

I am still looking for some help. If all this interests you and you have some spare time that you would like to donate, please get in touch. If you live in Spalding or nearby and fancy sorting negatives, prints, and scanning, then please contact me via one of the sites.

Plagiariser

A plagiariser is someone who uses another person's words or ideas as their own. Synonyms of plagiariser include: literary pirate, pirate, plagiarist, plagiariser, stealer, and thief. 

The verb form of the word is "plagiarise", which means to steal and pass off someone else's ideas or words as your own.

I have noticed, and it has been brought to my attention again, that Ian Johnson, who is listed as a top contributor to Vintage Vamps & Pin-Ups 1890s - 1970s, has been ripping content from this site hours after it has been posted and passing it off as his own work, with absolutely no credit given back to this site. 

In the past, when I contacted Ian directly, who actually stopped doing this for a while. However, over the last few months, he obviously could not hold himself back and has started again, even posting complete model profile texts on Facebook. 

Why do you do this, Ian (just for a few likes and comments)? It's great that you enjoy the site, and I certainly don't mind a little publicity, but you never credit Vintage Fetish in any way. Become involved here and make comments on this site where all the information is in context, rather than just abstract info on Facebook. 

So I am asking again, and we will be contacting Lorena Thompson, the Facebook group admin, in the hope that you will stop for good this time. 

A great deal of work goes into this site, with many others in the background who contribute to hopefully making it an interesting place for those who like Spick and Span and pin-up magazines in general. 

So, Ian Johnson, stop reposting the site's content and my words on Facebook; ultimately, you will spoil it for all.

BrazenBooks News and Other Bits

At last, I have the first offering of eBooks available from BrazeneBooks as a linked site to BrazenBooks. It has its own standalone domain and can be found here. There are only 30 titles available at this point, but more will be added on a regular basis. Most of the content will be much more adult and specialised in comparison to the glamour and pin-up books available here, and I am starting with a very varied selection of bondage and fetish titles from the 1970s and '80s. It is all new product that I have been scanning over the last few years, and there is a lot more to come, including some very rare and hard-to-find magazines. I am also excited to be able to offer film downloads in the future, which I can't do here due to file size restrictions, so keep an eye out for those.

Unfortunately, the process of payment and obtaining your download link is not quite as smooth and automated as I would like, so if you are a regular purchaser of eBooks here, please take a moment or two to familiarise yourself with that process. It works well; I have tested it many times.

Glamour and Pin-Up Book Sales

All new tangible glamour and pin-up books will now only be listed for sale on BrazenBooks, but all ToCo and similar eBooks will stay here for the foreseeable future. I will do my best to draw your attention to any new additions that might be of interest to visitors here.

ToCo Data Files Update

As I am sure, those who are frequent visitors to the site will be familiar with the ToCo model and book data files, which have always been free to download at the top of the ToCo book and model page. They are at least 10 years old, and we were aware that they contained some inaccuracies.

These original files were compiled by my friend Tony and have been a superb resource to have at my fingertips all this time, so I am delighted to announce that after many more thousands of hours of work scouring through every ToCo magazine to extract all that data, they have been fully updated, and they are now very accurate. 

So, I would like to give a massive thank you to Tony for doing all this work and then to make them available to me so that I can make them available to you. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Phil and David for their continued support and research. Their contributions make this site interesting and a great resource to many collectors. I assure you I could not do it all on my own. 

I have updated the download links on the relevant pages and I will  provide direct links to them at the bottom of this post. To the few, and I hope they are just a few, these files are free to download and use for your research and collection information. Please don’t pass them off as your own work or repost them anywhere; just enjoy having all that information freely available and thank Tony for doing all the work by not abusing them.

BrazenBooks - New Listings

BrazenBooks, the sister site of Vintage Fetish, has been up and running for 15 months now. I have already listed a couple of thousand books to kick things off. This is just the beginning as I have thousands more titles to add. The mix of titles is very varied, ranging from the more mundane to the very exotic.

I plan to maintain a focus on Toco, Pin-Up, and Glamour genres here, with regular blog updates continuing as usual on Vintage Fetish. Some of the books that I will be listing on BrazenBooks could comfortably work on this site. Therefore, my aim is to bring your attention to those titles in the New Books section here. By clicking on a cover or link for BrazenBooks listings, you will be directed to the relevant page on that site via a new browser tab.

Over time, there will be more frequent blog updates and images posted on BrazenBooks. If any of this piques your interest, feel free to explore and see if anything catches your eye. The site search and product search functions work exceptionally well in comparison to Vintage Fetish.

Please note that the payment and purchasing process works differently on BrazenBooks, so I encourage you to familiarise yourselves with the information provided before making any purchases.

I now have more freedom to offer a wider array of content of many unique items. So, expect the unexpected and be sure to visit regularly.

Blog Updates

For the past few years, I have been posting something every day. However, it has started to feel more like a chore rather than something I look forward to. In fact, there are now thousands of posts available in the archive for you to explore if you're interested.

Therefore, I have made the decision to start posting every other day. This will allow me to have time to pursue other avenues and make improvements here, which I will enjoy doing. It will also hopefully give me more time to showcase some original work, rather than just regurgitating old ToCo sets. However, I promise I won't abandon the ToCo stuff.

Still Disappointed…

It is also really starting to grate on me that a lot of my posts are being quickly reposted on Facebook and Tumblr within hours. What is particularly hurtful is that they are being passed off as their own work with no credit or acknowledgement to this site whatsoever. I understand that the internet can feel like the wild west, where some people think everything is free or up for grabs. However, that is not the case. I have mentioned before that some of the images on this site are copyrighted to me or that I pay others for the right to use them.

To those who are stealing my images, you know who you are, and you will read this message, I would like to ask you again to stop this behaviour. At the very minimum, please contact me first, ask for permission, and then give proper credit and link back to the site or original post. Even better, I encourage you to put effort into producing something original yourself.

Copying Site Content

It has been brought to my attention that individuals on Facebook and other blogging sites are copying content directly from this site and presenting it as their own, without giving any credit or providing links back to this site. This behaviour is unacceptable. A considerable amount of effort goes into gathering information, writing in an informative and enjoyable manner, and enhancing scans and pictures. While some of the pictures on this site may be free to use elsewhere, not all of them are. The issue here lies in how they are being used alongside my text.

To those who engage in this behaviour, you know who you are. Copying my content word for word and presenting it as your own work is dishonest. If you want to write a blog, I encourage you to put effort into creating something original and interesting for others to enjoy. It may be easier to cheat, but it shows a lack of integrity.

In most cases, I am happy for others to use content from this site. Many people ask for permission beforehand, and I almost always grant it as long as the content is properly linked back to my site. Proper linking back to this site helps increase its popularity, which ultimately allows me to continue sourcing new and exciting content for everyone to enjoy.

I ask that you not let a few individuals ruin it for the majority. I do not want to resort to watermarking pictures or restricting content to subscription-only areas. I am asking for your help in keeping an eye out for any violations and reporting them to me if you come across any during your browsing.

Elmer Batters and More

Great Collection

Recently I was lucky enough to acquire a collection of magazines, prints and negatives from a private collector who had been amassing his horde of Elmer Batters and the like for many years.

As far as I am concerned, it is one of the nicest collections I have ever purchased.

Hundreds of American magazines from the 1950’s and 60’s all in excellent condition. Hundreds of original 8x10 prints and 1000’s of negatives to be catalogued. Some of them rare and extremely hard to find, and I am certainly enjoying sorting through it all.

It will take me time to catalogue, sort and decide how best to deal with it all. But be assured, most of the magazines will be scanned for us to enjoy before they are sold on to collectors and possibly disappear for many more years.

I will be digitising some of the negatives and prints, which I will post in the blog but ultimately, they too will be sold. Help with naming models is always appreciated.

They will be on sale here on site and on eBay - I have added a new link for all eBay sales. I will regularly update the new items blog, making it easy for you to recognise what has been newly added.

So, I think we all have a lot to look forward to, but it won’t be an overnight process; it will take months to do. I will have years of pictures for posts and who knows what for the future!

BrazenBooks Open For Business

The sharper-eyed of you may have noticed that the more exotic fetish sections on this site have disappeared - namely the bondage, rubber and spanking orientated books and topics. They were very popular with some, but I personally did not think they sat that well alongside the likes of ToCo and QT - I really want to keep things here focused that way.

So, over the last few months, I have been putting together another site focused on all things BDSM - Bondage, Rubber, Spanking, Adult Comics and a lot more. Primarily this will be a bookstore, though it will also have the occasional post and collector information pages when I get the time.

Occasionally I am offered vintage collections of books and films which fall into these genres, and which are quite rare and hard to find. I have amassed a considerable amount of these over the years, which I will use as the foundation for this new site - no point in hiding them all away in boxes! There are some excellent quality, rare, original printed books available, which I have mainly acquired from deceased estates. What you do tend to find with these types of collections is that they are generally in excellent condition compared to Pin-Up and Glamour collections. I put this down to the fact that they are usually lovingly preserved; catalogued and hidden away in the darkest of cupboards - unlike a lot of Pin-Up and Glamour books that were readily available at the newsagents in the 1960’s & 70’s, and frequently thumbed by all and sundry at work!

The few books that I did make available on Vintage Fetish were very popular, so I am hoping that will carry over to this new bookstore.

And an interesting fact that surprised me when looking into the site statistics:- the most searched word on this site is bondage - not stockings or legs as you might have expected, but bondage!

Vintage Stockings Archive

Those who visit this site frequently will possibly already be aware that I decided at the beginning of January to close it down. It had a steady flow of visitors, but not enough to make it a viable venture and I am sure that most regulars had downloaded all the images that they required; I think sometimes things have just had their time and come to a natural end.

I will, from time-to-time, still post pictures under the title of Vintage Stockings Archive. I do pay attention to the likes that a post gets, and will try to favour those types of images in the future where possible.

Vintage Fetish

The Blog is popular; it now runs to 1,000’s of posts, but keeping it up to date with a post every day is taking its toll on me a bit. From March I will generally only be positing every other day. However, I am, surprisingly, running short of suitable pictures from the Vintage Stockings Archive that have not been posted all over the internet before, and that may prove popular here.

So, I am asking you all who follow this site to dig deep into those hard drives and volunteer a few pictures that we all might like to see and enjoy, because surely that’s what it’s all about. I know that they will get downloaded and reposted elsewhere - that’s how all the images got on to Vintage Stockings Archive in the first place. That is just the internet, and we have to accept it, but the pictures would still be seen here first. I am looking for pictures that are in keeping with the site, as well as being interesting and possibly not seen before; they ideally need to be of a reasonable quality if possible. I am happy to look at digital, prints and negatives if you have them. So please dig deep and share if you can - there is no point in letting it die with you, or your family finding it after you have gone and just chucking grandads smutty pictures away! I could tell a few tales from some of the people who contact me, but sadly that’s only the ones who see some worth and the funny side of it all. Far too much, I am afraid to say, just ends up in the rubbish.

I was recently contacted by a regular site visitor who was offering me some ToCo negatives, I think. If you are reading this, I did get back to you twice but have still not heard anything; I am still interested if you would like to get back in touch.

I still have plans to get the model galleries updated and have few more digital books to come soon - Spot On and Stag to name a couple. These may possibly not be the most popular of titles, but they are certainly in keeping with the site, as the intention is to keep it very much Pin-Up and glamour focused, with the ToCo books at its core.

I do have another project on the go at the moment, which I know will be of interest to some of you - I will announce details in a few weeks’ time. So, in the meantime, drill down into those hard drives and contact me if you have anything to say or would like to share.

QT - Russell Gay

QT - Concord Publications

I have at last put up a home page for QT, and am gradually making available a full collection of eBooks.

All information on the home page is from my own research, and reflects my opinions on the magazine – it does not claim to be 100% accurate. When looking into the history of some of these books, I am frequently amazed at how little information there is available; what information you do find - not unlike mine – has to be questioned for its accuracy. Most of the information I gather comes both from the books themselves and the thoughts and opinions of other collectors. So, as I frequently state, if you have more information or something to add, then please do contact me.

These eBooks have been scanned at a higher resolution and optimised to reduce their file size. This produces a good combination of quality verses size, and I am very pleased with the finished results. I am not going to wait until the full collection is complete before making them all available, but will add books in batches when complete. I do now have somebody helping with the copying, so hopefully the full collection will be available within a couple of months.

New Year – New Ideas

Site News

It’s been a busy year, 2021. Vintage Fetish has been doing well, with its audience growing month on month. Personally, I have had a few ups and downs, but a way forward is making itself clear and I have a few ideas I would like to share.

Vintage Stockings Archive

Last summer I was fortunate to be offered the complete contents of the Vintage Stockings Archive from its webmaster. The site, which I am sure a great many of you were familiar with, closed a year or two ago. There are, as you can imagine, 10’s of 1000’s of images; I have taken some months to review these and have been posting some of the ones that are most in keeping with this website’s main content into the blog on a regular basis.

Most, though, don’t fit well on this site. I want to keep this website as I originally intended - to cover all things ToCo, and include other titles from the 1950’s, 60’s and early 1970’s era. And there is still a lot of ground to cover here, with QT and Pin-Up and many other lesser-known titles still to come; as ever the intention is to make as many of these books available as digital copies for us all to enjoy for a long time to come.

So, let me stop waffling and get to the point – I have decided to resurrect Vintage Stockings Archive as a new stand-alone website. Most, if not all, of its old content, and some new, will be made available for you to enjoy. Those of you who are familiar with the old site will appreciate that a great deal of its content was pictures that had been harvested from the web and then reposted in their original form. I am not going to change that; images will be posted in galleries un-retouched - I just don’t have the time to review every picture.

This new site will eventually have to stand on its own feet financially, which means it will likely be funded with adverts. I will give it a year to see how things go.

Construction is underway, and it will go live when I have enough galleries uploaded to make it viable, and then keep adding content on a regular basis.

I will let you know here when it goes live.

New Models - Wives and Girlfriends

I have been thinking about this next project for some time and feel that the site has now matured enough to give it a go.

But this one is down to you.

Spick, Span and Beautiful Britons were a real success; they published their funny little books for 23 years, and it was all down to pictures of mainly ordinary women in ordinary situations giving us an eyeful of their underwear and a teasing look; what more could we ever want!

The success of this website shows me there is still a real desire to see more like it.

I am keen, and I am sure many others are as well, to see something a little more up to date.

So, I am proposing an area where you can send in pictures of your wives and girlfriends. I do want to ensure that this is in keeping with the ToCo view on things - teasing and fun - nothing explicit. Take a close look at the pictures used from the 1960’s books to get a good idea of what is required. This one really is down to you - your reward will be the fun you get at the end of the shoot, and then seeing your pictures being liked and commented on by others.

Vintage Stockings Archive

Recently I was fortunate enough to be offered the complete contents of the Vintage Stockings Archive from its webmaster. The site, which I am sure a great many of you were familiar with, closed a year or two ago. There are, as you can imagine, 100’s of 1000’s of images, some of which would complement this site well.

Sadly, I don’t have the time to resurrect the old site, but, as and when time allows, I will make available some of those pictures via this site’s blog, and intermix them with the regular ToCo sets that we all enjoy.

Pictures that I use from the Vintage Stockings Archive with be categorised as VSA, so that they can be easily separated or tracked. As always, I ask that if you can put names to faces then please contact me via the contact page.
