Jo Shrimpton

Trendy Girl

This certainly was a very trendy outfit that was popular in the early 1970s, but you really had to wear tights with it if you were to consider leaving the house. But tights allowed girls to wear things like this then, and it was only just decent but a delight to see out and about, and with the addition of a pair of white boots, fabulous is what I think. This is a nice set of pictures, of which there are a few more. Jo looks great, and these are my favourites.

Record Spinning Dolly

Two more pictures from Jo Shrimpton’s collection of prints. While she certainly doesn’t appear particularly happy spinning records in her underwear, some women simply aren’t natural smilers. I think she looks fabulous in her fancy knickers and stockings, but I’m not sure about how she has that record balanced on the player.

What A Dolly

Jo Shrimpton only had one appearance in Span No. 227 (July 1973). I have 60 prints of her, all taken on the same day, I would suggest, but they only used a few of her, messing about with a hoover.
I do wonder why that was, as ToCo still had a few more years left at that time, and the prints I have are fantastic mini dresses, stockings, and white boots— what more could we ask for?
I will feature a few of them here, or if you want to see them all, just pop over to Brazenbooks, but remember they are reduced in quality and watermarked. What do you think of Jo?

Take a Break

Housewife JO SHRIMPTON was fearfully busy.

There are always chores and they don't half keep a girl on the go. Jo, however, likes to take a mid-morning break. After all, what about that poor housewife who got so fatigued that she was sucked up by the vacuum cleaner?

Jo wasn't having that. So after a break for elevenses she took up a five-minute routine of physical re-orientation. A toning-up exercise. Knees bend and all that brisk stuff.

Looks lovely, she does, when she's at it.

She can cope with the insidious attentions of any vacuum cleaner after that.
