Helen Candlish

Lovely in Lingerie

Actually, HELEN CANDLISH looks lovely in any kind of clothing. She's pretty cute even in a barrel or a roll of lino. In lingerie, of course, she's one hundred per cent feminine, and that, bub, counts more with us than any barrel.

If you're travelling through Ayrshire at all this summer, on your way to the Highlands, you might be lucky enough to spot Helen. Keep your glasses at the ready and let someone else do the driving.

Helen loves modelling, and there's nothing that quite beats a model who loves her work and who looks just the way Helen looks.

And when modelling the attractive briefness of the modern girl's lingerie, Helen looks lovely. Which is where we came in.

Helen Candlish and Jean Dee

GEE UP!

It was the sort of day to make the girls lively, all the sun and fresh air inspiring blonde HELEN CANDLISH and brunette JEAN DEE to practise the egg-and-spoon race for the forthcoming fete. And other races too.

"Gee up?" cried Helen.

"Look, I never was intended to win the Grand National," said Jean, "so just watch it with your spurs, will you?"

Oh well, over the meadows they galloped, like, and in the fields they skipped, and the young farmers stood around and said they were the best thing that had happened to agriculture since Cleopatra.

We don't feel we can argue.

Oops!

Well, that’s the way it goes when pretty HELEN CANDLISH decides to do a spot of sun-bathing in a recalcitrant deckchair.

The sun’s right, and so is Helen. The only thing giving any real trouble is the chair. Helen may look as if she's sorted it out satisfactorily, but appearances are always deceptive.

There we are and all we can say to Helen is how simple she was to allow herself to be let down this away. Think of any recalcitrant deckchair and you’re on the track of one darned bump after another.

Ah, well, aplomb restored and there are no ladders and no tears. No one can take a bump and come up with this kind of smile like Helen can.

It's The Comfort That Counts !

It’s a pleasure to ask you to meet HELEN CANDLISH, the girl who appears in the next issue of our companion magazine FUNFARE, for this is a preview of Helens series. It’s also to show you that there is a great deal of comfort in old-fashioned long underwear that the flimsiness of more fashionable garments lacks.

With a book, a settee and time to spare, comfort is, in fact, the current keynote with Helen. You may laugh at Helen’s longs, but flimsiness is one thing and comfort another. After all, pilots don’t fly in swimsuits and Russian girls don’t sweep snow in a bikini.

So, until the long hot days of summer definitely show up, what have you got against a girl putting warmth before chilliness?

Indeed, what was good enough for mother is good enough for daughter and what is good enough for daughter is comfortable enough for Helen.
