Marion Holmes

Back Again

Always welcome is glamour girl MARION HOLMES, secretary to a production manager and established favourite with all readers.

From 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, Marion is hard-working and efficient--she does it for the lolly, of course--and the rest of the time she's creatively glamorous.

What's creatively glamorous, Dad?

That means, my boy, that when she enters a crowded room all the susceptible males create pure chaos in their endeavours to get closer to her glamour.

Where are you going, Dad?

I'm a susceptible male myself, Junior, but don't tell your mother.

Janette Goodman

I'll String Along

It isn’t JANETTE GOODMAN who'd really have to string along—any guy with sense and discrimination would gladly tag. Who wouldn’t want to buy a girl like this a ticket for a dance!

Janette is one of our own favourite Scottish lassies and that Highland accent sounds in our ears like the tinkle of wee bells in the heather. If that gives you the impression we're a wee bitty softie, well so we are when we’re lyrical. We'll string along with Janette on the wings of a descriptive lullaby if we must.

Nicola Sieff

You Win

The fact is, if your name is NICOLA SIEFF and you look spectacularly curvy you can't lose. In other words, you've no chance of being a wallflower, and if your aim in life is to be proposed to you've no problem. Since Nicola hit London town last year a score of the nicest chaps have wanted to marry her, but Nicola says it's not for her until she's 25.

Amber Jackson

Cover Colour

Making our cover look very colourful this month is AMBER JACKSON, one of our latest lovelies.

Amber is willowy and gorgeous, and when she's not adding glamour and elegance to the London scene she's probably in Paris or Rome, trying to look over the fashion trends there while fending off ardent Latins who want to get to know her better.

"Honestly," she said when she arrived back on one occasion, "you daren't even smile or you get carried off to meet someone's mother with a view to being approved as a bride. Well, I hope as a bride, but you can never tell with those Continentals."

You're right, love. Some of them just have no principles.

Janet Ross

Front Line Frills

It's frills to the fore with JANET ROSS, London showgirl seen in the front line of high-stepping chorines. If you can believe it Janet spent her earlier years training to be a nurse but gave it up when she found exams keeping her awake at night!

Janet has a flat in South London where she cosily tucks herself up to sleep long and late it's the late hours of show biz which keep her awake at nights now.

Janet is 5' 9" with big eyes and long legs. Amid those frills we think she looks even more delightful as a model than she does as a showgirl.

Sally Anne

Dear Mr Editor

My Christian names are Sally Anne, I'm married to the nicest man, and thinking that you'd like to see I've sent these photographs of me. I hope you'll think I'm rather swish and not an oldeworldie miss, it’s just that when the cold comes on, I like to wear my undies long.

I love my warm directoires, yes. call them my D.K.'s, no less.

I think it's really cosy fun To wear D.K.'s all cute and long, In warmth and comfort they're a dream, So please don't say I look a scream.

In fact, you know, D.K.'s are now all the rage and such a wow, believe me truly, if you can. They don't look better on a man!

Maggie McCully

Maggie

“Have you dropped her down a mineshaft?’’ A question, that, which is typical of many we’ve had thrown at us in connection with MAGGIE McCULLY. Although we’ve never said so, we now admit that we do indeed make a habit of dropping all Maggies down mineshafts. Girls like to go a long way in this modern world, particularly if they are beautiful, like Maggie McCully, and we’re sure the way from the top to a bottom of a mineshaft is very long indeed.

“No, seriously, you don’t mean all that jazz." Listen, Buster, there’s no jazz about it. Ask Maggie.

"All right. Did you get dropped down a mineshaft, Maggie?"

“But of course.”

“What on earth was it like?”

“Narrow. I was scraped all the way from top to bottom.”

Good old Maggie.

Emma Getgood

Gang Awa

And for those of you who need a translation, the sad meaning of the above is that Scottish sweetie, EMMA GETGOOD, is no longer with us.

Emma departed for Canadian shores a few months ago, leaving us with the feeling that there's something missing that matters.

And if we feel that way it's a cert that they're not exactly in the mood for the highland fling in Scotland. Well, no Scot who values a glamour girl like Emma as much as he values his oats can be expected to play anything but a lament on his bagpipes.

Jan Kerrie

Here To Stay

JAN KERRIE came to London from Ireland some months ago, thought she'd stay a few weeks to see how unspeakable the English were and then return.

That was six months ago.

Jan is still with us. It's a divil of a blow to the I.R.A., so it is.

Angeline Dunmore

Sultry Look

Giving us the full benefit of that sultry look is ANGELINE DUNMORE. To look at Angeline you'd probably think she's the kind of sophisticated beauty who lounges around all day merely looking glamorous for the camera.

We exclude the smart guys who live by the maxim that nothing's so deceptive as looks.

In actual fact, Angeline's a busy housewife and mother, and prefers the kitchen to the studio.

It so happens that both Angeline and her hubby like to eat.

Thirsty consumers of highballs sometimes consider eating a mere chore between drinks, but not Angeline.

Cooking itself may be a chore, but not the end product. What could be more appetising than ravioli served a la oomph by a housewife more appealing than the dish itself?

Pamela Beeston

Guitar Girl

Pretty teenager from Co. Durham, PAMELA BEESTON not only looks good with a guitar but sounds terrific. Does this mean she can play it ? What else? And, anyway, isn’t she cute enough to be given the benefit of the doubt in the case of any uncertainty?

if it’s a question of rhythm, it’s there. Well the guitar has a curve and so has Pamela, and if that isn't rhythm, what is?

Pamela is one of our natural beautiful Britons—the charm is there, the shape is there and we also like the hair-do. Someone is bound to ask if she can also cook and the answer to that is in the affirmative.

Actually, nobody told us Pamela was good in a kitchen. We guessed she was because she looks good anywhere, and any pretty girl who can handle a guitar can, you bet, also handle a frying-pan. Any other comments?

Denise Fleming

Swish

Some girls look cool and composed, some look swish. DENISE FLEMING looks very swish, she’s a 21-year-old Scottish girl with statistics of 36-20-36, and it’s great to know they develop so many like Denise north of the border.

Audrey Stewart

Fashion Conscious

Glamour girl AUDREY STEWART is training to enter the ranks of the top-line fashion models, and talent plus training equals what!

If you assume (how can you not?) that two beans and three tomatoes make a funny kind of sauce, you must equally assume that talent plus training make a fashion model like Audrey.

And a fashion model like Audrey must be the tops, and that’s all this little lady asks for.
