Layered Nylons?

This intriguing picture features Julie Marsden, who appeared in just four magazines for Toco. However, this particular image seems to deviate from her usual sets. A closer look reveals an unconventional choice of undergarments, with what appears to be flesh-coloured tights underneath black stockings, and possibly no knickers or alternatively she is wearing see-through knickers with the waist band of her suspender belt under her knickers. The fashion of wearing knickers over tights was more prevalent in the late 1960s and 70s, a stark contrast to today's style of wearing knickers under tights. The concept of layered nylons seems to have a historical precedent, as seen in the case of Diane Clarke in Spick 178, who also sported stockings over tights. Rural Type

Country girl JULIE MARSDEN likes the rural life in the quiet, unspoilt environment of the Cotswolds. She's married to an American and neither she nor hubby yearn for the clash of trams, the howl of sirens and the creaking of high-rise concrete.

They like their country cottage, and enjoy walks down the lane to the whispering woodlands, where they first met. Julie was picking bluebells and he was wondering whether he was lost. It was mutual enchantment at first sight, like.

Some film stars can't stand it unless they've got six birds or six fellers always ready and willing, but Julie reckons romance isn't dead yet if you can appreciate the simple life.

Cross-Country Charmer

You wouldn’t think this trim, slim charmer was a cross-country champ, would you—or would you? Her name is JULIE MARSDEN and she’s won any number of trophies running miles and miles over the countryside in all weathers, without looking anything but engagingly feminine. In fact, Julie is very feminine and when she isn’t in her track suit she likes to wear all the frills that the ultra-feminine girls do wear.

We caught up with Julie when she was out surveying the route for one more cross-country run. She was picking her way over the roughest ground and looking delightfully leggy about it. It was a sure way of proving with our camera that our girl athletes don’t look like Amazons but just like the pretty girls next door.
